"The Bulldog Seeds" seed bank

Fast approaching their 50th anniversary, The Bulldog is by far and wide one of the most iconic and celebrated brands in the storied history of commercial cannabis.

From their early days as one of the quintessential smoke dens in Amsterdam to coffeeshop empire, hotels, bars, cafés and even bike hire, the addition of a Bulldog-brand seed bank was more than logical - it was inevitable.

Uniting friends from the global ganja growing community and Amsterdam's most famed and beloved coffeeshops, these talented Mary Jane devotees committed to breeding their collection of premium pot strains, which come to you today in a full range of regular, feminized and autoflowering beans. When coffeeshop favorites for the discerning grower is what you crave, these are the only beans you need, available from SeedSupreme Seed Bank.

Origins

Amsterdam-based The Bulldog was founded by an ambitious visionary named Henk de Vries back in 1974.

In the heart of the red light district, de Vries conceived the concept of coffeeshops which are today synonymous with the cannabis community and quality Dutch strains.

The brand (inspired by de Vries' dog at the time, Joris - who also inspired the company's logo) set out to become a place people can enjoy the privilege of being themselves, but would go on to become something far grander then perhaps even they had ever dreamed.

Brand Evolution

The First Coffeeshop

There's no two ways about it, we owe the entire coffeeshop scene to the dream of Henk de Vries and his pioneering Bulldog coffeeshop.

After around half a century, it's tough to imagine a weed-filled world without coffeeshops, with an ever-expanding myriad of marijuana producers having joined the bud bandwagon, followed The Bulldog's example and made the term 'coffeeshop' instantly recognizable in a number of different countries.

Even if you've never visited one of these quintessential cannabis establishments (you really should remedy that!), or if at-home toking is all you ever wanted, the impact of coffeeshops and the premium quality ganja they are famed for has sent undeniable ripples throughout the marijuana market for decades, and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon, with breeders worldwide striving for quality worthy of these prestigious pot paradises.

Critical Acclaim

Over the decades since first opening their doors, The Bulldog would go on to attract millions of cannabis connoisseurs and curious newcomers from all over the world.

Even today amidst a sea of competition, The Bulldog welcomes discerning customers and marijuana tourists from thousands of miles away on a daily basis.

There are currently five Bulldog coffeeshops and a complete merchandise and accessory line, though the company remains as committed to small business values today as they were almost 50 years ago.

Quite simply, there isn’t a major name on the commercial cannabis scene worldwide quite as recognizable or celebrated as The Bulldog, or able to boast the same kind of pedigree that truly speaks for itself.

The Original Pot Pioneers

“Through the years The Bulldog has become a versatile company and the brand has gained more depth. Besides the coffeeshops there are also two cafes, three souvenir shops and a hotel in Amsterdam.

The Bulldog also expanded across the borders of Amsterdam with a hotel and vacation homes in Canada, social clubs in Barcelona and Ibiza, a bar-restaurant in the centre of Rome and on the tropical island of Aruba.” - (Henk de Vries, The Bulldog)

In many ways, The Bulldog is considered to be the catalyst of commercial cannabis culture as it exists today.

Taking things beyond simple coffeeshop ownership and sales of branded merchandise, The Bulldog has played a direct role in the normalization of marijuana for a new generation of consumers worldwide - to such an extent that irrespective of where you are, there’s a good chance you’re not too far from one of the brand’s iconic outlets.

Nevertheless, there’s no place to experience what The Bulldog is all about quite like their original (and some would say best) coffeeshop in the heart of Amsterdam.

Essential Strains

The idea behind the compact lineup of seeds available from The Bulldog is simple. If you’re unable to make it to one of their legendary coffeeshops, you can enjoy the same high-quality marijuana at home (albeit by growing the stuff yourself, but with the same guarantee of stellar results and minimal effort required).

Their strains are developed after meticulous research and development with the best breeders in the industry to help bring those dank coffeeshop flavors to your couch and crop, and this list contains some of their top-selling strains of all time:

Energy Haze

True to her name, Energy Haze is all about delivering a potent and long-lasting energy burst, whenever you need an effective pick-me-up throughout the day. Created by combining the genetics of two superstar strains - Kali Mist and Northern Lights - Energy Haze is an exceptionally consistent and stable specimen, with a flowering time of approximately 10 weeks.

She takes time to reach fruition, though rewards patience with a THC content in the region of 14% and generous yields of up to 600g for every square meter of grow space.

Silver Star Haze

Like her counterpart above, Silver Star Haze brings out the very best of her all-star parents - Haze, Northern Lights and Skunk #1.

With her predominantly Sativa genetics, Silver Star Haze gets to work quickly on everyday stress, depression and low energy levels, with a soaring cerebral high that eliminates all cares of the day. THC typically measures around 19%, with indoor yields often tipping the scales at up to 700g per square meter. Considering a little of this stuff goes a long way, that’s a hell of a lot of weed from such a simple strain to grow.

The Bulldog Chronic

Combining the renowned properties of The Church and Super Skunk, The Bulldog Chronic delivers that quintessentially skunky and funky fragrance you’d expect from something seriously old-school.

Flowering times come in at around the eight-week mark, after which yields of up to 700g can be harvested from every square meter of grow space.

Flavorful and with a powerfully pervasive odor that permeates everything in the vicinity, The Bulldog Chronic often measures with a THC content in excess of 20%. With her predominantly Indica genetics, this stuff has the capacity to knock you clean off your feet, while remaining alert enough to enjoy whatever you’re doing (or not doing).

The Bulldog Haze

Combine the genetics of an exceptional Super Silver Haze strain with a super-sour Lemon Skunk and this is what you come up with. As her name suggests, The Bulldog Haze is absolutely bursting with sour citrus fragrances, translating to a fruity and addictive aftertaste that’ll have you coming back for more.

Her relatively even Indica/Sativa split ensures a beautifully balanced high, combining a soaring cerebral uplift with just the right amount of physical relaxation. THC content of around 19% is the norm, along with yields of up to 600g per square meter after around 10 weeks of flowering,

Bubblegum Kush

A notable mention has to go the way of Bubblegum Kush, which is one of the most popular strains enjoyed in the company’s coffeeshops right now.

Fruity, sweet and endlessly enjoyable, Bubblegum Kush (unsurprisingly) combines the genetics of Bubblegum and Kush. The result of which is an 80% Indica-dominant hybrid, which is considered by many to be the ultimate thought-provoking and downright philosophical strain on the market. She's not the most energizing of strains with this kind of makeup, but nonetheless makes for a beautifully relaxing and content experience with her moderate THC content of around 18%.
