New year’s resolutions have a tendency to be pretty awful. For some reason, people choose this time of the year to find new and interesting ways to punish themselves. Sometimes with the greater good in mind, but almost always in the form of something they don’t want to do.
Precisely why the vast majority of new year’s resolutions don’t tend to last beyond January.
For 2020, why not approach things from a different angle? Instead of the usual drudgery of a bunch of promises you’ve no intention of keeping, why not set your sights on something a little more pleasant?
Assuming you’re part of the cannabis community, you really should have no shortage of options to explore. If in need of a little inspiration, here are seven simple suggestions for new year’s resolutions for 2020 that don’t suck:
1. Learn to Make Edibles…Properly
First up, the art of making edibles doesn’t begin and end with the same tired batch of brownies you’ve been making for over a decade. Learning to make edibles means learning how to bring cannabis into your culinary creations like a pro. You don’t even have to be particularly creative, given the vast archive of recipes doing the rounds online. From everyday snacks to fine dining delicacies to cocktails and desserts, there’s a whole world of cannabis cuisine to explore this year.
2. Learn to Grow Your Own Cannabis
Again, we’re not just talking about throwing a bunch of seeds in a pot of soil and seeing what happens. Instead, we mean learning how to grow cannabis like a pro and producing some top-quality bud. Even if it means upping the ante with the time, effort and money required, the payoff will make it more than worth your while. As always, all the information you’ll need to get the job done like a seasoned pro can be found online.
3. Support the Cause
If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. That’s not entirely true, but it’s the responsibility of every self-respecting stoner to support the cause for legalization. Attend a rally, sign a petition – just as long as you do something, it’s better than doing nothing. It’s also surprisingly satisfying and great for smug points.
4. Get Into Cannabis Tourism
Just because cannabis is now legal in your jurisdiction doesn’t mean there isn’t a whole world of adventures waiting elsewhere. Make 2020 the year you finally take a trip, discovering how cannabis culture elsewhere differs from that in your own town, city, state or country.
5. Try as Many Different Strains as Possible
You’ve got your own top-five list of cannabis strains, and that’s absolutely fine. However, you’ll never know if there isn’t something even better out there, unless you go look for it. Even if straying from your comfort zone isn’t something you normally do, experimenting with new strains can be an absolute dream come true.
6. Experiment with Consumption Methods
Concentrates, edibles, vapes, blunts, pipes, bongs – we’ve all got our favourite cannabis consumption methods. Sadly, most of us also have a pretty nasty habit of getting well and truly set in our ways. Mix things up in 2020 and bring a little variety into your regime.
7. Learn to Roll Better Joints
Last up, why not (finally) make 2020 the year you step out of amateur-hour with your joint rolling? There’s a huge archive of free resources and video tutorials online – everything you need to nail it. Get creative if you like, but at least save yourself the embarrassment of spending another year unable to roll even a simple joint like a pro.
