There’s really no such thing as there being too many ways of getting that cannabis fix you crave. These days, what with weed cultivation and use having become legal in so many forward-thinking parts of the world, stoners are constantly experimenting with new concoctions and ideas for making weed even more enjoyable than it already is.
A world where you can legally buy pot seeds and germinate them too? It’s a world millions are lapping up right now…none of whom happen to live in the UK, sadly.
Even if pot edibles aren’t usually your thing, there’s one exception that’s guaranteed to hit all the right notes – cannabis smoothies. The very best thing about getting into pot smoothies is the way in which you find yourself with quite literally limitless opportunities to explore. Smoothies are great in their own right, but add a little THC into the mix and you’re talking something seriously epic.
From meal replacements with a little more ‘poke’ to smoothies packed with vitamins and those that are better than any normal dessert imaginable, you’ll never get bored of experimenting with new ideas. We’ve featured just one super-satisfying smoothie idea here, but feel free to use it as a base upon which to build the decadent delight of your dreams!
There are certain basics you will need in order to make any weed smoothie of any kind, but there’s always plenty of room for customisation. We’ll assume in this instance you plan on sharing the joy with at least one other person, so any measures you read apply to a two-serving yield. If you just want one, we’re sure you can work out what to do with the list of ingredients!
You’ll be needing:
- 500ml of any kind of milk you like – full-fat milk usually results in the most luxurious smoothies of all
- 150ml of double cream
- 4 tablespoons of honey (cannabis infused if you can find it!)
- Fresh vanilla, or a few drops of vanilla essence
- The fruits of your choosing – blueberries, kiwis, mangos, strawberries and bananas are good places to start
- Anything else you fancy sticking in there
You’ll probably have noted by now that this isn’t a health food smoothie we’re making here…which will be all the more obvious when you taste it! As for the weed, you’ll need to grab yourself no more than about 4g of bud (less if you want a lighter kick) and give it a seriously good grinding. It’s a good recipe for making excellent use of a bud that’s gone a bit dry.
Next up, it’s a case of mixing the cream with the milk and putting it on a gentle heat. You need to be quite precise here – aim for around 60-70°C and be sure not to let it boil. If you do, you run the risk of ruining the whole thing and having to start out from scratch. And just for the record, the answer is yes – you do have to use heavy cream in with the milk!
Throw in the bud you’ve chosen and give everything a really good mix together. It’s now that you need to give your patience a serious workout as you’ll be looking at simmering it all at the same 60-70°C mark for at least one hour. If you want it to infuse properly, it’s the only way of doing it. And let’s face it – it took enough time to get to this stage from the marijuana seed bank – what’s another hour or so holding out?
After this, it’s basically a case of allowing it to go cold, chilling it down and then blending it together with all the rest of the ingredients you chose. It’s technically possible to make a normal smoothie and just throw a load of bud in, but it won’t have nearly the same flavour or the effect created by slowly infusing the milk with THC.
It takes some time and effort, but it’s more than worth it!
