Sweet as Candy
By a considerable margin, Bubblegum is one of the world’s most iconic, celebrated and downright spectacular cannabis strains. Uplifting and relaxing in equal measures, this stuff is just the thing to spark conversation and trigger relentless fits of giggles.
Though not a particularly high THC strain - averaging around 13% - though clearly demonstrates that you don’t need a ton of the stuff to have the desired effect.
Bubblegum Auto has a perfectly balanced makeup of 50% Sativa and 50% Indica genetics. The result of which is a high that gets to work on the body and brain with equal effectiveness, without knocking you clear out of your own senses in the process.
Though, it’s perhaps the exceptional candy-like fragrance and flavor of Bubblegum that makes this herb such a world-renowned superstar. One whiff and you’re immediately transported back to your favorite childhood sweet treats, though in an altogether more adult-oriented package.
The exact origins of this delicious hybrid remain something of a mystery, though strains going by the name ‘Bubblegum’ have been around for almost 50 years. It was later, in 1994, that the contemporary incarnation of Bubblegum took home two prestigious Cannabis Cup awards, followed by further accolades at the same event in 1995. All of which solidified this strain’s place among the top-ranking and best-selling cannabis strains of all time.
Even today, Bubblegum towers over the most innovative and technologically sophisticated strains money can buy. A classic example of old-school weed at its absolute best, demonstrating how you don’t have to get too complex or creative to come up with something spectacular.
Flavor and Fragrance of Bubblegum Autoflower
The most prolific terpenes present in Bubblegum are myrcene, caryophyllene and pinene, which are renowned for their herbal, pine and peppery qualities accordingly.
All of which is evident on the nose, coming together to create a sweet and slightly floral fragrance, punctuated with plenty of dank earth in the background.
On the palate, however, this herb delivers an altogether more decadent and candy-like experience. The exhale in particular is bursting with sugary sweetness and fabulous fruity flavors, leaving behind a blend of berries and a creamy aftertaste that lingers indefinitely. Bubblegum Auto is, by no stretch of the imagination, one of the most delicious strains you’ll ever have the pleasure to try out.
A typical batch of these buds will have a THC content of somewhere between 13% and 17%. It can reach as high as 19%, but isn’t the norm. She’s also far from a high CBD strain, with less than 0.5% on average. Nevertheless, Bubblegum is one of those superior specimens that demonstrates just how far a modest amount of THC can take you.
With a perfectly balanced genetic composition, Bubblegum gets to work on body and mind with equal effectiveness. The initial feeling is one of energizing and inspiring euphoria, filling the entire body with a sense of confidence, motivation and complete content.
You’ll be grinning like an idiot from ear to ear, desperate to talk to anyone willing to listen and finding even the most inane things absolutely hilarious. For a while at least, hysterical giggles are inevitable- excellent for all types of social situations.
After a while, the Indica genetics begin to make their presence known, though not to such an extent as to knock you off your feet. It’s more a case of a fantastic sense of physical relaxation creeping through the body, warming the muscles and sending electric tingles through the synapses.
You’ll be less inclined to run a marathon at this point, but will still have all the motor skills and coordination needed to stay on your feet.
Bubblegum can become incapacitating when consumed in copious quantities, but is best enjoyed in moderation for an all-round brain and body buzz.
Medical Uses of Bubblegum Autoflower
The fantastically balanced nature of Bubblegum’s genetic composition makes this herb fantastic for the treatment of various medical conditions and health complaints.
For the most part, this stuff is immensely popular for its capacity to eliminate traces of stress, worry, anxiety and negativity at the end of a tough day. From mild depression to negative thoughts to more general apathy, Bubblegum gets to work in seconds and does the job for hours.
On the physical side of things, the effects aren’t quite potent enough to tackle more severe physical conditions, such as chronic pain or muscle spasms. However, it can be just the thing for bringing welcome relief to everyday aches and pains, or the occasional headache.
The drowsiness that sets in towards the end of the high also makes this ganja great for relieving physical tension, often easing the user into a great night’s sleep.
As an added bonus, the fact that Bubblegum Auto has a relatively modest THC content means she isn’t likely to trigger panic attacks or bouts of paranoia. Even if your THC tolerance is a little on the low side, you’ll find this super-sweet strain easy enough to handle. Couch lock is not out of the question, but you’d need to consume a fair quantity to end up incapacitated.
Growing Bubblegum Autoflower Seeds
The cherry on the cake with Bubblegum Auto is how easy she is to grow. It’s worth remembering that this is an old-school strain that first appeared back in the 1970s, long before today’s complex and convoluted cultivation paraphernalia was even invented.
Indoors or out, Bubblegum plants demonstrate excellent resistance to most common plant problems and aren’t particularly fussy when it comes to weather conditions. You’ll get the best results with warm and sunny weather for the duration, but it's far from essential.
As this is the autoflowering variant, your plants will automatically switch to the flowering stage when the time is right. Flowering times average around eight weeks, with plants rarely growing higher than around 130cm. This makes Bubblegum Autoflower a great strain for making use of compact corners around the home, though these beauties do have a habit of stinking up the place as the plants mature. Odor control should therefore be carefully considered, if your intention is to keep your plants under wraps.
Aim to harvest around mid-October if growing outdoors, for potential yields of up to 600g per square meter. Things aren’t too shabby indoors, either - averaging around 400g per square meter.
There’s not a great deal you can say about Bubblegum that hasn’t already been said. This is one of those all-time classic strains you have to experience to understand. Though at this point in time, it’s hard to imagine anyone with an interest in good weed that hasn’t had their fill of these delicious buds over the years.
From discerning purists to newcomers getting into the whole cannabis thing for the first time, Bubblegum is a crowd-pleaser of epic proportions.
There’s just nothing about this stuff that’s not to like, irrespective of your personal tastes and preferences. In terms of fragrance, flavor, effects and ease of cultivation, Bubblegum is just about as good as it gets. All with the added bonus of plants that are as gorgeous to look at as they are decadent and an absolute gift to grow.
