High CBD Strains
Marijuana Seeds with High CBD
High CBD strains reign as the undisputed champions of the medical marijuana world, but while you’ve likely heard of THC, the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, the term CBD is still a stranger to some.
CBD is a non-psychoactive component of cannabis boasting a profusion of psychological and medicinal benefits which forms a list with no end in sight.
The acronym stands for Cannabidiol and is typically the second most generous cannabinoid found in ganja. And, as you may have guessed by the non-psychoactive reference, CBD doesn't get you high.

What are Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are a divergent class of chemical compounds which have a profound effect on the Endocannabinoid System, or ECS for short. This neural network occurs naturally in all mammals and bears the duty of maintaining equilibrium or balance, of the body on a cellular level.
CBDs work by activating or blocking these neurochemical receptors in our brains and bodies, modulating mood, memory, appetite and pain.
The ECS can be stimulated by three types of cannabinoids. The first, known as Endocannabinoids, are created naturally within our bodies. The second, Phytocannabinoids, are those found in cannabis. And the third, synthetic cannabinoids, are, as you might expect, synthesized in laboratories.
Is it any wonder then that high CBD strains are so highly sought after and celebrated among those hunting an alternative to pharmaceutical or extreme treatments? I know I'd take a naturally occurring compound over one cooked up by Dr Frankenstein any day.
What are the medical benefits of taking CBD?
Thanks to its unique makeup, CBD is being recognised in ever-widening circles as a true marijuana miracle.
It is gaining rapid momentum in the medical world as an ideal substitute to the clinical approaches of modern medicine. This is owing to its undeniable strengths in combating a host of conditions without the need of invasive surgeries, harmful treatments or a pharmacy's shelf full of pills.
While used today in the treatment of epilepsy, seizures, chronic pain, inflammation, PTSD, anxiety, stress, nausea, opioid withdrawal, Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis and even cancer, CBD became famous for another, perhaps less well-known condition.
Dravet's Syndrome, (DS), a rare and debilitating monster of pediatric epilepsy, one proven to be defiantly resistant to the treatments of modern medicine, may also have met its match with high CBD strains of marijuana. DS plagues sufferers with innumerable daily seizures which worsen with age and can, understandably, be life-threatening.
CBD’s fame was solidified in helping to treat a young Dravet’s Syndrome sufferer named Charlotte by using an ingestible oil developed from the Charlotte's Web weed strain (which contains practically zero THC concentration, making it perfect for pediatric use). Charlotte’s use of CBD brought swift and dramatic change to her condition and, across a two-year period, reduced her hundreds of daily seizures to a mere few a month.
Is CBD only useful for those with medical ailments?
Despite the medical marvels marijuana with high CBD can bring, these strains have a solid fanbase among the recreational users, too.
With most strains, you’ll find a varied mix of CBD to THC levels, so it is still possible to enjoy some of the psychoactive elements of a regular smoke. Higher CBD strains deliver clear-headed and functional effects without the all-encompassing euphoric high of THC Heavy strains.
This means the high CBD strains are ideal for those who are sensitive to the side effects of cannabis, such as anxiety, paranoia or dizziness. And, as there is no difference in how these strains are consumed, you'll be in familiar territory; smoke the buds, enjoy some edibles, vape it, swallow a capsule or apply lotion, the options are as wide and welcoming as ever.
Growing high CBD weed
As always, plant growth varies between strains, with some being more suited to beginners and others requiring a greater degree of TLC and experience.
